A page for Testing

This is a page to test out MediaWiki editing and the markup language. Feel free to edit/add, etc. To create an account, just click on "Log in" on the upper right and then "Join CCT Community Wiki"

To edit a page, or view the raw markup, click on the Edit link that will show on the tabs on the right, just below the login menu. Note that text on a new line is grouped merged with previous text, so use carriage returns within text to help the text be more readable.

When you want the text to show on a new line, then put a blank line in between.

When you want to look at your edits, click on the "Show Preview" button at the bottom.

When you want this box around your text, start the first line with a leading space.

When you want to save your edits, click on the "Save Page" button on the bottom. All changes can be rolled back, so don't be afraid to save/make mistakes, etc. That's what this page is for.

There are lots of features to the markup language, but for now we will focus on a few specific editing features.

  • Italics are identified with two single quotes to start and end the italicized text.
  • Bold text is identified with three single quotes' to start and end the bold text. Five single quotes is bold and italicized.

Section Headings

Section headings are identified with an equal sign (=) as the first character in the line and a trailing = sign.

Subsections

Subsections are the same just with more equal signs. E.g. two equal signs (==) at the beginning and end

Sub-sections

And so on and so on. Subsections show up in the table of contents, automatically inserted once there are a set number of subsections. (Where the TOC shows is configurable, but no need to worry about that now)

Bulleted List

  • Bulleted lists (with an indent, start with an *)
    • Or two or more for subsequent indents
      • Or three for more indenting
  1. Or do the same with a pound sign (#) instead of an asterisk if you want numbered lists
    1. Two pound signs is the further indent

Cites

Sample Site Text[1]

Markup for above looks like:
Link can go here such as: [Http://www.mkat.com http:/www.mkat.com]</ref>

NOTE: <references/> is the tag to place references, otherwise seems to go at end of page. Good practice to preface with a Heading ala ==References==

Links

"*Internal" links (to other pages in this Wiki) are enclosed double square brackets by just identifying The page name. here is a link to Main_Page page. Or, if you want different text show for link, put separator line (|) after name within brackets. e.g. Click get *to home Page external use single with full URL. [http: www.uml.edu] or have alternative text, add it URL space (no - bit inconsistent design but that's how works) www.uml.edu UML page]="=" Quote styles="=" =="=" Blockquote (select "blockquote" from visual editing menu)="==" before

Just seems to indent everything and add cr - the Author text after

The line after

The same with a box

The line before

We must grudgingly congratulate polarization for being chosen as the Merriam Webster Word of the Year[3] for 2024. It is said to have been a long and dirty election process with water-cooler advertisements that included incomplete definitions, questionable synonyms, and malicious ad‑homonyms. In making their choice, the staff atns
